Cheryl Elliott Thornton, JP 7, Pl 2 Harris County

My name is Cheryl Elliott Thornton and I am running for Justice of the Peace Precinct 7, Place 2.

For the past 32 years, I have led a life of public service and have built trust within our community. I embrace the opportunity to provide a vision of fairness and justice to Precinct 7’s constituency with excellence and continue giving back to our community just as I have done my entire career.

I have served as General Counsel for Texas Southern University, an Administrative Law Judge and Assistant Attorney General for the State of Texas. I have taught our future leaders at Lone Star and Houston Community Colleges, and I volunteer my time on several different boards and committees.  I believe in my community and I believe in my responsibility to continue fighting for the fairness and justice our neighbors deserve.

I have served at all levels of our community: from Precinct Chair of Precinct 228, board member of the Police Advisory Board, Co-Chair of the Gender Fairness Committee of the Houston Bar Association, to General Counsel for Senate District 13. My involvement in all these organizations have given me a sense of what our Precinct 7 needs, what its people value and what leadership is needed to move forward.

I need your help – grassroots efforts like mine are powered by people who believe in change. Every dollar counts and your donation of today affirms our belief in a better justice system.
