Hello! I am Jorge Rivas Jr. and I am running for County Court at Law #3. As many of you know, I was born and raised in El Paso. After graduating from Jefferson High School, I attended undergrad at the University of Texas at Austin and received my law degree from Baylor Law School. I began my legal career over 20 years ago helping indigent migrants trying to gain citizenship as a legal representative at Diocesan Migrant & Refugee Services. I also served as a prosecutor with the El Paso District Attorney’s Office and was subsequently hired as an associate with the law firm of Robles, Bracken, Coffman & Hughes. I truly feel I have learned from the best and have acquired what seems like a lifetime of experience in the courtroom.
I opened my own law office in 2005 and have not looked back ever since. I continue to proudly serve El Pasoans who have been hurt or treated unfairly in the workplace. Since that time I have also served as an Associate Municipal Judge and have performed all of the duties of the office. I am proud to be licensed to practice in the State of Texas, the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas, as well as the Supreme Court of the United States of America. In addition, I also serviced as a field artillery officer and platoon leader in the Texas Army National Guard, and recently completed my military career as a JAG Officer, having proudly served the Fort Bliss Community for many years.
I am married to Shelly, my best friend, and with whom I share two beautiful and healthy children who keep us very busy. I dedicate much of my time to my family and my church. I want to give back to my community.
I am highly qualified for County Court at Law #3., and I am seeking this Court for all the right reasons. I truly believe that my experience will maintain the honor and integrity of the judicial system, in particular to County Court at Law #3. I will continue to provide sound, thoughtful and fair decisions for the citizens of El Paso that I proudly serve, and I would greatly appreciate your vote in the March Primary.
