Texas Senate Democratic Caucus

The Texas Senate Democratic Caucus is organized to promote legislative initiatives that improve the lives of everyday Texans, including ensuring access to quality, affordable health care; increasing access and equity in public and higher education; supporting economic development and a strong workforce; protecting our natural resources; and promoting civil rights and criminal justice reforms.

The Senators’ districts encompass urban and rural communities across the state, representing more than 11 million Texans. The 12 current members are Chair Carol Alvarado (Houston), Vice Chair Nathan Johnson (Dallas), Sen. César Blanco (El Paso), Sen. Molly Cook (Houston), Sen. Sarah Eckhardt (Austin), Sen. Roland Gutierrez (San Antonio), Sen. Juan “Chuy” Hinojosa (McAllen), Sen. Morgan LaMantia (Palm Valley), Sen. José Menéndez (San Antonio), Sen. Borris Miles (Houston), Sen. NOTE: As a legislative caucus, the Texas Senate Democratic Caucus may accept corporate contributions. These contributions will be used for caucus administration; no portion will be used for political expenditures.
