Thank you so much for joining me in building a Travis County that is progressive, innovative, preserves our natural resources and is full of vibrant and culturally diverse communities.
The collaboration among local governments in Central Texas has never been better. Across issue areas, geographic boundaries and political affiliations, we are collaborating on water infrastructure, workforce development, healthcare, affordable housing, transportation, criminal justice reform and many other shared challenges.
With Senator Watson’s retirement, many of you have heard I am seriously considering running for the Texas Senate to represent Travis and Bastrop counties. Whether I stay as Travis County Judge or run for the State Senate, I pledge to continue building regional coalitions to address the challenges Central Texans face. In the near term, my focus is on expanding transit in our region, assuring that every home has running water, expanding access to mental healthcare (including treatment for substance use disorder) and making deep, long-overdue reformations in the criminal justice system. Whether I continue my work on the front lines of county government or pursue policies at their source in the State Capitol, I ask for your continued support.
Please consider making a contribution to my on-going campaign to put good policy above pure politics. At the county level and at the state level, effective, efficient and fair government truly does make the lives of Travis County residents better.
Sincerely,
Sarah Eckhardt
