Dance group founded in 2014 under the direction of maestro Edgar Yepez, involve youth and adult people focused on presenting a memorable program of beautiful dances and colorful authentic regional dress that will live in the memory of Austin as a prime example of Mexican culture.

Ballet Folklorico de Austin was working together with the community to become Guelaguetza, an annual festivity in the city.
In 2016, Mayor Steve Adler proclaimed
July 02 as Guelaguetza day in Austin Texas.
July, 16th 2016. Guelaguetza in Austin had an audience of about
900+ people at Pan American Hillside Amphitheater.

Ballet Folklorico de Austin had the honor of performing for the first time Guelaguetza with live music along with 20 musicians from Maqueos Philharmonic band from Los Angeles California.

During COVID, the dance group remained united through social media and virtual rehearsals. To stick together was a hard challenge but today we are still here, and returned to the stage to do what we are most passionate about, dance for our audience.

Zilker Hillside Theater embraced our Guelaguetza for the first time. With boundless happiness and a grateful heart, the entire dance troupe performed their 6th Guelaguetza in Austin with live music.
