Nancy Wurzman for Collin College Trustee

I’m Nancy Wurzman and I’m running for the Collin College Board of Trustees. I’ve served on the Board since 2010 and am currently its Treasurer. I am a practicing attorney with an MBA in risk and finance and I have an undergraduate degree in education. My background and experience combining these skill sets provides the Board with a well-rounded perspective on solving the challenges the Board faces in moving the college forward. I want to continue serving the College in the implementation of the Master Plan developed and approved by the Board over the past 18 months, because having knowledge of the college’s challenges and experience in managing those challenges are crucial as we build new campuses and new programs. I have been a strong advocate for expanding our mission from what was primarily a transfer college to providing a wider range educational programs and workfroce training that prepares students for well paying careers in our community. Even though the Master Plan includes significant growth of our physical footprint, I’ll continue to advocate for only expanding our facilities when the need is demonstrated, quantifiable, and sustainable so it is funded by growth rather than tax rate increases. I’ll continue to be a strong advocate for maintaining Collin’s low tuition while making sure that tuition and state funding cover the cost of providing educational services. I’ll work to maintain the highest quality of education for which Collin is nationally recognized, while continuing to listen to and support the needs of its students, faculty, business community and taxpayers.
