The Pasteur Institute was established in 1895 at the Higher School of Veterinary Medicine, as the Institute for Animal Vaccine. In 1909 he was renamed in the Institute of Serums and Vaccines, and in 1920, on the
anniversary of the centenary of the birth of French scientist Louis Pasteur, the name was changed to the Pasteur Institute of Pigs and Vaccines.
At the beginning of the twentieth century it was the third of its kind in Europe. During the First World War it
decisively contributed to maintaining the fighting force of the Romanian army through the production of the
hyperimmune serums necessary for it. After the Second World War, the Pasteur Institute operated under the
authority of the Ministry of Agriculture, being the main technical body of the state veterinary authority.
Throughout its history, the Pasteur Institute in Bucharest has made an essential contribution to the eradication of epizootic diseases in animals (sheep, dourine, morgue, brucellosis, foot-and-mouth disease) and the drastic reduction of the incidence of others (anthrax, tuberculosis, contagious sheep agalaxy, swine fever, Newcastle disease, enzootic bovine leukosis, rabies etc).
Now , the Institute is falling apart and is sad to see this.
I want to use this fundraising to creat the "Rebild Pasteur Institute" Fundation , to give the past glow to this historic building and organisation.
